FORBIDDEN FRUIT

Signature

The young woman in this painting embodies humanity, frozen in a moment of choice. In her hand she holds a branch that extends in two directions, as it were, dividing into two worlds. On one side sit bee-eaters, colorful birds of sun, light, and blue sky. They traditionally represent vitality and optimism. On the other side, an apple, the forbidden fruit of Paradise. Beautiful and seductive on the outside, but pernicious and evil on the inside.
The robin has an equally negative symbolic meaning. Its red breast refers to blood, suffering, transience, and the fragility of existence. Between these two extremes humanity balances, faced with the choice between the path of life and the path of destruction. The painting “Forbidden Fruit” is a poetic reminder that every choice determines the direction of the world.
